In the pack
Two pads, not four. They arrive folded, which is what makes the photography misleading, so it is worth saying plainly.
Washing it
Machine washable, tumble dry low. Skip the fabric softener and the dryer sheets: they coat the fibres and slow down how fast the pad takes liquid.
How it is made
Four layers. A printed face soft enough to sleep on, an absorbent core, a breathable waterproof layer, and silicone dots that keep it still on hardwood, tile or carpet.
Charcoal ground, a diamond trellis in tan and slate, and one small paw inside every diamond. No medallion, no centre: a repeat that reads the same from any side of the room, which suits an open-plan floor where the pad is seen from everywhere.
A dark ground shows the least between washes, so it looks much the same on day four as on day one. The trellis does the rest: a straight grid on a plain floor reads as a mat, not a rectangle that got left out. It's the pick for concrete, pale oak and grey tile, where warm prints look borrowed from another house.

Cut through, the pad is about 5 mm thick, two stacked coins. A soft printed face on top, a white absorbent core that holds the wet, a thin waterproof film that stops it reaching the floor, and a grey underside with silicone dots that keeps it put. The four are quilted into one sheet, so it washes and dries as one.

How long does the backing last?
The anti-slip backing is the part that wears first, and heat is what finishes it, not use. Wash warm below 40C, tumble low or hang dry, skip the softener. If the backing ever starts to split, the pad is done, and that is worth knowing before you buy rather than after.
